The terms, 220V and 240V are often used interchangeably. Technically all modern electrical systems would use 240V and older systems would be 220. The actual voltage delivered is not exact though.
While most household outlets use 120V (or 110V), 240 Outlets are often required for larger appliances. You may need a a 240V outlet for:
